Will the 3g iphone work on the 3g network that Tmobile has already started to unroll?

The new iPhone supports UMTS / HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz) and I think that the 3G network of T-Mobile is compatible with the 2100 and 1700 MHz. If your phone only supports one of the frequencies of T-Mobile it will work or if you need to be compatible. Assuming that you can unlock the phone for TMobile U.S..

No. Not right now.

Maybe after somebody hacks it to work with T-Mobile 3G it might, but don’t count on it. T-Mobile 3G is only in Manhattan right now. Other than that it is just EDGE so there is no point. Might as well stick with AT&T.

EDIT:

Wings OfZion is a idiot. You can’t even leave the Apple or AT&T store without activating it unless you want to pay full retail price for it. Plus if you took it into a T-Mobile store they will tell you that they can’t activate it because it is locked to AT&T’s service. I’m sorry but the only way to use it here in the state is on AT&T. And they do have T-Mobile 3G here in the U.S.. See the above section. If somebody does get it to work on T-Mobile it would only be on EDGE and not 3G even if you take it to a 3G zone. The iPhone cannot use T-Mobiles frequency.

Far as i know T-mobile has yet to roll out thier 3G network here in the states. As for the iPhone, only T-Mobile customers in Germany can use that phone and as far as i know T-mobile’s 3G network is not completely up and running. So as for a 3G iPhone for T-mobile, my bet is late 2008 early 2009 but again in Germany. Remember even if you managed to get a unlocked iPhone and attempt to activate it on a T-mobile U.S service (if you can even get that far) you’ll have no data cause it won’t be able to use the network since the phone is not configured to do so.

The best thing to do is to wait for the 3g to be unlocked. Then maybe it will work, but still i wouldnt jump on it too fast.

no, the new 3g iphones will only work on cingulars network. apple has taken steps to stop all outside networks from using the iphone

i honestly don’t know, but i know that at&t and apple will NOT be selling the new iPhones online, so you have to buy it in a store, so no one will unlock them and use them on other networks.
so even if it did work, you would most likely not get the iPhone 3g in the first place, unless you switch to at&t ofcourse :)

hope this helps! :) (:

First Check the sites of the iPhone 3G and T Mobile to confir those facts…then wait for the phone to come out….Since they have put on more retrictions to actually prevent unlocking…how about you wait till some one else does unlock it…shouldn’t be too long…millions buying it…..half of them geeks….dont like AT and T..they unlock it….it breaks…but some one will get it right….unless of course your richie rich and you can tr doing it yourself……if that was the case….i can give u my number…lol kidding

Good Regards

John
